New Excuses

So everyday Jacob has a reason why he can't go to school. Today's was pretty inventive. We got half way to school this morning when I realized Jacob had no shoes on. After a lengthy discussion on why and where and don't do that again we arrived back at home to retrieve the shoes. I parked in the garage and turned the van off. Jacob doesn't move. He assumes I will go get his shoes for him. So I inform him he has to get his own shoes and he gets mad and starts to tear up. He stomps all the way up the stairs yelling, "I just better stay home. It'd be better to be home!" He stomps all the way down the stairs yelling the same thing. He gets in the van and we start driving again. At this point he realizes (I assume) that this plan hasn't worked. Time for plan B.
Jacob turns on the water works,
"I don't like school. My arm (wrist) hurts. It's too hard!"
What is too hard I ask.
"Everything with my arm."
Do you mean writing and coloring is making you wrist sore?
" Yea, it's too much"
This whole time there are crocodile tears falling. So we arrive at school and it gets worse. So I hug him and try to console him to no avail. Meanwhile Sam is waiting to go into school and is getting tired of all this. So at 8:30 I went ahead and sent Sam in. I'm still trying to talk Jacob in to going inside.
"But my wrist hurts!"
And then in dawns on me, Jacob that is your left hand. You don't write with your left hand! It can't possibly be sore from writing and coloring too much when you don't use it!
At this point he stops for a moment and has to think fast.
"But the teacher makes me use my left hand!"
Oh yes, I can so see that. 45 minutes late Jacob finally went to class. I wonder if he can top that tomorrow?

*UPDATE*
Jacob made it through the whole day of school. When I picked him up he said he had a good day, his wrist was better but now his ankle hurts. My guess is the teacher is now making him write and color with his left foot. I have already been informed that he cannot go to school tomorrow morning because of his ankle. Is there any end to this? :) At least I love it!!
